Zara wool and leather coat | Mango sweater dress | ASOS boots

White powdery goodness has fallen from the sky, the capital has come to a traditional standstill, and I have a stinking flu-like cold (again, as if last month’s lurgy wasn’t bad enough). I survived Thursday and half of Friday at work while the insidious little viruses made their nest in the back of my larynx, and finally went home on Friday afternoon to hide under my duvet with a hot honey and lemon.

(Incidentally, the best recipe is to dissolve the honey in hot water, then add lemon juice. Once slightly cooled, add grated ginger and serve in your best mug for instantaneous soothing and healing effects).

Come Sunday, I felt a little better. Better enough to remember that my favourite sale purchase from this year – a wool and leather coat in declicious deep red - wanted to go out for a walk. Also better enough to feel that I really ought to get out and about while the snow was still falling, and generally emerse myself in some wintery magic. Before it all turns to mushy brown puddles in time for work on Monday. I got wrapped up warmly in my new baby (Chris plying me with mittens and scarves all the way out the front door) and we set out on a gentle sickie stroll around the park. I started behaving like a child, snow got thrown, and before I knew it was feeling much better.

Home again home again for hot cocoa in front of a blazing array of candles (no open fires in London, booo Clean Air Act, booo, bring back the smog!).

My viva (examination during which it will be decided whether I get my PhD or not) is on Tuesday, so I'd better hurry up and get better! So I'm off to brew up another honey and lemon, and get tucked up in bed with my revision. I feel like an undergrad cramming for finals again!

What have you all been up to? Any favourite sale purchases or exciting snow adventures?
